I like Puyol's Simpson's version. And Xavi. And Iniesta. And why didn't he forget to dye Torres' hair??

New Year's Greeting From FRMS

As we says our goodbyes to 2010, it is time to welcome 2011 as it has much excitement and surprises in store for all of us, good or bad.

This year has been an amazing year in footie from the John Terry-Wayne Bridge saga, Spain winning the World Cup,to Inter clinching the Treble and El Clasico where Barcelona trashed Real Madrid 5-0.

Well. Enough of me. Happy New Year and I wish a prosperous and happy Footie 2011 to everyone!

Run, Pedro, RUN!

A confusion between the Spanish Football Federation and FC Barcelona left the Catalan club late to Estadio Reyno de Navarra, home of FC Osasuna. Read the full story of El Confusion here but imagine this happening everyday. A famous footballer running across you at the train station. Lace up, stalkers!

The confusion might have lead people to expect Barcelona to slip (especially with the fatigue from travelling) but Messi was the man of the match after slipping in a pass for Pedrito in the first half and added by a superb run and a goal from the spot in the second half.

Picture nicked from the twitter account of @marcosperiodico. All credits go to him.

Ramos Almost Sparks Crisis In Spain Over Regional Languages

Spain and Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has now caused a bit of a stir in Spain after a sarcastic quote may well add to the anti-Spanish sentiment among many Catalans.

Even those of you who don’t know much about Spanish history will be aware Basque separatism and no doubt also the strong Catalan identity which usually comes with diehard support of FC Barcelona. Many Spaniards particularly hate Catalans and view them as different people.

Andalusia, the birthplace of Ramos is not one of the areas that are very stern in its call for independence of even showing off their language Andalusia. Ramos is certainly one of them.

The journalist asked Gerald Pique to answer a question in Catalan, something the Barcelona player had no problem with.

When Pique asked whether he should translate his answer to Spanish, Sergio Ramos interrupted saying that his teammate should give his answer in 'Andalusian', since the journalist "had difficulties understanding Castilian".

Castilian is what the rest of the world call Spanish.

Right after the press conference, Ramos took a picture and posted it on his Twitter account with fellow teammate and Catalan, Gerard Pique. The Real Madrid fullback later told press he was only joking and “had no problem with Catalans or the Catalan language” which basically avoids any problems.

Enzo Zidane - Tipped to NOT Follow Dad's France's Footsteps?

I previously published a post saying they MIGHT be a possibility that Enzo Zidane might opt to play for Spain, instead of France, the team where his dad, Zidane played during his glory days. Now, Jorge Valdano, sporting director of Real Madrid says that "there will be a duel" between Spain and France over Enzo.

France have expressed interest to have him in their squad but Spain U-16 coach Gines Melendez has announced his intentions to call up Zidane Jr. to play for La Furia Roja.

The money is on Spain to win the battle for Enzo after France's embarrassing exit from the 2010 World Cup in contrast to Spain's who won the trophy. But he is just 15 years old, after all? He has a lot of thinking to do.

Excuse the Pun: Roy Not So Keane on Mikel Arteta to play for England

As you may already know, Mikel Arteta can play for England since he has lived in Britain for years. He said he might consider playing for England since his international career in Spain is a doubt because of playmakers like Xavi, Iniesta and Fabregas. He has never played at Senior level for Spain making him eligible to be part of the 3 Lions Squad.

Roy Keane doesn't think Arteta will have the same desire to play for another country.

Iker Casillas Interviewed by WAG Sara Carbonero after 1-0 loss to Switzerland

I even saw her during the match behind the goal post with her camera crew...Stalker much?

In other news...Spain were defeated by Switzerland by 1-0 due to a slip by Gerard Pique which Gelson Fernandes seized his oppurtunity. Spain was the better team during the whole match with many chances that were saved, hit the post and the crossbar.
