Man United Sign Bébé

Sir Alex Ferguson has made one of the biggest shocks this summer by splashing out around £7.5million on Portuguese striker Bébé. The 20-year-old joins United subject to passing a medical and will take United’s summer spending to around £25million.

Never heard of him?? Me neither till I almost got shocked when I saw on the official site site that another player was coming to United.

1. His full name is Tiago Manuel Dias Correia, otherwise known as Bébé. (Haha, very funny)

2. United signed him from Portuguese club Vitória de Guimarães.

3. He was raised in an orphanage and spent most of his childhood on the streets.

4. Sir Alex met Bébé on Tuesday and immediately signed him up after talks. Well it’s not that hard to sell the club to a player is it?

5. The 20-year-old only joined Guimarães five weeks ago from Portuguese third division club, Estrala da Amadora.

7. United’s former assistant, Carlos Queiroz, recommended him to Sir Alex.

8. He is 6ft 2in tall, strong in the air and a technically-gifted striker with a powerful right foot.

9. Oh yeah, he doesn't speak English. But no worries since compatriot Nani has stepped in to help in language barriers.

Manchester United 3 Tottenham Hotspurs 1

Manchester United overcame a determined Tottenham side to go top of the Premier League. The Old Trafford side had two Ryan Giggs penalties to thank for their victory which puts them ahead of Chelsea at least until the west London side takes on Stoke City on Sunday.

After a quiet first half Patrice Evra was felled in the box by Benoit Assou Ekotto and veteran Giggs made no mistake from the spot. Ledley King headed in from a Gareth Bale corner to level things ten minutes later. However Nani restored United’s lead over the White Hart Lane side.

Ryan Giggs put away another spot kick after Wilson Palacios brought down Nani to seal the contest and hand Sir Alex Ferguson a crucial win.

Long time injury victims Aaron Lennon and Owen Hargreaves were subs of the match.

Bolton Wanderers 0-4 Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson rested Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand to gain 3 points at the Reebok Stadium as an own goal, a double by Dimitar Berbatov and a strike by Darron Gibson ensured Manchester United stayed at the peak of the Premier League after Arsenal were held to a draw against Birmingham and Chelsea slaughtered Aston Villa by 7 goals to 1.

Bolton's Jloyd Samuel scored Manchester United's first goal at the 38th minute which makes the own goal tally in favour of United to 11.
This is Ryan Giggs first start since he broke his wrist against Aston Villa and Nani was very creative on the left wing and supplied the ball to Berbatov.
Dimitar Berbatov scored twice to prove United are not totally dependent on Wayne Rooney.
Darron Gibson sealed the deal by scoring a superb strike at the 81st minute.

Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand were rested for United's trip to Germany to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League QF's. United will face Chelsea next weekend in a match that may as well decide who wins the EPL.

Arsenal 1-3 Manchester United

Manchester United proved once again that the bullets from the Gunners cant stop the fire and fierceness of the Devils. This was a critical match for the both sides as the winners could close in the gap with premier league leaders Chelsea. The first goal came in the 32nd minute when Arsenal's no.1 GK Manuel Almunia inadvertently clawing the cross into his net after Nani used some of his famous tricks trying to pass to South Korean International Ji-Sung Park. Minutes later, Nani helped Wayne Rooney score the 2nd goal beautifully scoring his century of goals in the EPL with his stint at United and childhood love, Everton. By the first half, Arsenal were down 2-0. Remember the last time they were 2-0 down by HT? It was the Bolton match which they won 4-2 but sadly could not translate that to the pitch this time. There was more trouble after the 2nd half when Park Ji-Sung scored inside the penalty box against 4 defenders. Thomas Vermaelen made sure Arsenal at least got a consolation prize with a goal at the 78th minute which took a deflection out of Jonny Evans. Manchester United now stand strong and proud and are proving to the world that United are still in the title race.
